Antenna recommendations for HT Kenwood TH-F6A
Posted by: AE7PA - 01-18-2012, 06:47 PM - Forum: Antennas - Replies (3)

What antenna recommendations / suggestions do you have for my HT? Ideally 2m 1.25m and 70cm. For now I plan to just use the HT, maybe down the road I'll get a full on mobile, but just the HT for now.

Would like to know what would be good for;
1) HT rubber duck replacement, is it needed, if so which one
2) antenna to use the HT as base, possible a simple slim-jim
http://www.2wayelectronix.com/Dual-band-...lim-16.htm
3) and lastly something for the truck

thanks for the input

  QRZ and other comm mags
Posted by: K2NCC - 01-17-2012, 07:25 PM - Forum: For Sale - Replies (2)

I have about 100 magazines, mostly QST, but dozens of Urgent Communications, Military & Aerospace, and others. Most about e-comms, military gear and technology. All are fairly current, nothing over a 4 or 5 years old. Most from the last two years up to current editions.

Free.

I live in Hillsboro. Email or PM me to schedule a pickup time.

I'll either remove or update this listing when they're gone.

thanks for looking, 73

  Greetings from Creswell
Posted by: k7kra - 01-11-2012, 03:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I would like to say hello to the group from my QTH on the western edge of Creswell. I was finally able to dig my radio out of the garage where it had been languishing since our move back in July. I found the 145.13 repeater after scanning the band, and finding it to be one of the few repeaters with activity. I am currently running an Alinco DR-110T with a twin-lead j-pole antenna.

Working the International Space Station with APRS/Packet
Posted by: kc7nht - 01-09-2012, 06:30 PM - Forum: Space Communications - Replies (4)

If anybody is interested or has done this let me know I have actually found a lot of links on what to do. I have made a couple of ground contacts Through the ISS Digipeater also have had my position reported to an IGate that has a map on the web that showed my position for that pass. Done it all with a vertical. The link to the map is
http://www.ariss.net/

My next little project is to make a crew contact on voice if anybody has done this feel free to point me in the right direction.

  Antenna mast?
Posted by: w0ulf - 01-08-2012, 08:24 PM - Forum: Antennas - Replies (8)

Alright... REALLY dumb question here.

I've used a lot of cheap and stupid things for antenna mast over the years. I've even stooped so low as to buy TV antenna mast from Radio Shack.

What does everyone else use for mast, and where do they get it?

Trees don't count. I don't have any suitable trees in my yard for use as a mast right now, and I don't have time to grow one. Tongue

I'd like to mount it off the eaves, if possible. That way, I can keep my antennas on the back of the house where they are "low visibility".

  Dual band satellite antenna
Posted by: K7VNZ - 01-07-2012, 07:23 PM - Forum: Wanted - Replies (2)

Still really new to amateur radio, and got into it mainly because I've always wanted to work a satellite with a HT. Looking for something similar to this Arrow II Satellite antenna

Let me know if you have something you would be willing to sell, or have ever made a satellite contact and maybe have any other antenna suggestions. OR, your general experience with Arrow antennas in particular.

Thanks!
