Playing with solar power!
#1
Hey guys I have a small solar cell that makes 20 volts. How can I chock it down to 13.0 to 13.5 to charge things like, my handy squaky, batts and so forth? Id like to put a female cigarette lighter style plug on it!

Does your solar cell have a charge controller with it? In looking at solar stuff in the Northern Tool catalog, they seem to push charge controllers like they are mandatory equipment. Might consider looking in to those.
Hope that helps!

Check here for charge controllers (And other nifty solar and 12vdc gear): http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/c...ble-energy

Let us know how things go - I know a number of us are interested in the solar thing, possibly for Field Day!

True, true - and if we go with wind, then we'll have a calm day. Other than generators, that leaves... the stationary bicycle generator, hamster wheels, enslaved children turning overly-dangerous machinery, and hydro-electric generation facilities.

I'm sure I'm missing something obscure, like geothermal or... hmm, maybe Jim can get us enough material to make an RTG power source Wink
