Part 90 radio question
#1
I work as a security guard, and from time to time I go to a site (e.g. - sawmill, construction site, theatre, etc.) only to find the available on-site radio(s) dead or in use.

So, can I use one of the Wouxun Part 90 radios to transmit on a site, as long as I gain voluntary permission to transmit on their frequencies while on-duty?

I just don't want to trust only my own research and knowledge on this.
Many thanks everyone!!

Howdy Richard,

I can't speak for the entire "Is it legal" question, but I DO know that at least some commercial radio licenses specify a maximum number of mobile and base radios they are licensed for. I know the one for my employer only has one base and 40 mobiles on their FCC license. You might want to check and see how many units their license covers before you assume that there are "available" / unused license slots.

My employer is using FAR below their number of units, so I know I'm covered there.
