New gear 24dBi directional antenna for 2.4GHz

For use in 2.4GHz. 24dBi gain in a 13 degree beam-width. I'm thinking it'll be a whole lot of fun to use. I have to say, though, that it's much larger than I had pictured in my head.

To anyone curious, I got the telescopic tripod/mast off of Amazon by searching for photographer light stands. They're super cheap there and for smaller projects that require a stand they seem to work well.

I wonder if these tripods would work good for a quick HF wire antenna setup?
