Monthly Meeting on the calendar!
#1
Hey all,

I just created a recurring event on the calendar for our monthly Peak Radio Association (P.R.A.) meeting. It is set for the second Monday of every month at 19:00, and I set it to send a reminder three days (Friday) before the event each month. I have NO CLUE who will get the reminder or what it will look like. I didn't see options for who gets this or anything beyond "How much of an advanced notice do you want" setting.

I left some details out of it (Like the place), as I wasn't sure what I should put up and what I should leave out. If I should add more (Or remove something, or delete the thing entirely), please let me know. I'll do whatever the Board wants. :^)

Also, if the reminder doesn't work like it is supposed to (I've not tested it yet - this is the test!), let me know.

Awesome! Thanks Vauhgn! I was going to make a list of member emails to send out as a reminder as well! But this may be better!

I suppose we'll see how great it is about three days before the next meeting when it is supposed to send out the reminder. With any luck, it will be a useful reminder that gets attention instead of languishing somewhere that people don't notice it. Thanks for the feedback and for running the Swap net tonight, Cyrel!

Hey Stacey,

The e-mail idea is a good one to have anyway - just in case. You never know when you might need it. If this automatic reminder gets sent out via e-mail, that'd be awesome! If not... we might want to fall back to the mail list. :^)

Any feedback on whether the location should be up there or not?

Thanks!

Are the meetings always going to be in Corvallis? Nice town but a little far to come on a Monday evening.

Hey Vaughn -----

After reading your thread about adding the PRA meetings to the event calendar, I later noticed that they didn't show up on any of the months following March 12. I discovered that this was because of a setting under the "Recurring Event" tab in the calendar's "Add New Event" window. I changed the end date from March 12, 2012 to December 31, 2012 and now the meetings show up on the second of every month as you initially intended.

I re-added the event reminder. For some reason the software didn't save the previous setting but it's all good now. The reminder is set for three days in advanced. Everybody should now notice a clock icon next to the event on the calendar. I am not sure how the reminder presents itself when the time comes. Guess we'll find out.

I also took the liberty of adding the Federal Holidays to the calendar so if any upcoming club or non-club events can be planned around those holidays if needed (NOTE: two of the meetings fall on Federal Holidays, one being on Columbus Day in October and the other on Veteran's Day (observed) in November).

I hate not having a calendar that doesn't show the fed holidays so I hope this helps.
