Marys Peak History
#1
Today while I was up on Marys Peak during the repeater show and tell, I found myself talking Marys Peak history. I'm a bit of a local and military history geek, so I decided to start a little thread about it.

What do you know about Marys Peak history? Ever had questions about the history of this area? Post here!

Marys Peak once had an Air Force radar station atop it! This facility was a "Gap Filler" radar installation as part of Mt. Hebo Air Force Station. It also used to have a fire lookout tower, though both are now gone.

Here are some interesting links that cover these topics.

At the bottom of the page in the above link, there's a link to old photos of the facility. There aren't many, but there they are. :^)

Quick overview of the peak's history, see the "History" section on page 25: http://www.npsoregon.org/kalmiopsis/kalm...yspeak.pdf
