Japan may widen millimeter-wave radar band for self-driving vehicles
#1
A wider radar frequency band can accommodate increased volumes of data transmission, thereby boosting the sensitivity of radar equipment and their ability to detect obstacles.

The ministry also plans to expand the frequency band of 77.5 to 78 gigahertz, currently allocated to amateur radio services and those conducting astronomical observations, for use in self-driving vehicles as well, the sources said.
