Electric cars shun AM radio
#1
As an unintended consequence, two popular energy efficient cars from BMW and Tesla are dumping AM radio, due to the vehicles interfering with passenger reception on that band.

It seems that the rechargeable battery vehicles have an electric motor with a frequency converter that disrupts AM broadcasts, which can be prone to that kind of interference.

I've read about this. It is unlikely to have AM radio on electric cars. These vehicles have different automobile technology. It's unlike regular radio car and truck parts that work with an antenna on the audio system which receives frequency bands of both AM and FM. Electric cars like BMW i3 and Tesla Model X don't offer terrestrial AM radio due to its electromagnetic interference.
